Mobile phone batteries evoled over a year from Nickel-Cadmium Cell Phone Batteries to Lithium-Poly Ion Batteries
In today’s modern world we cannot take single step outside the Home without use of mobile phone, over the years cell phone batteries evoled fastly.
Although Cell phone battery introduced in early 1940’s but it not last long.It is evoled only from 1980’s, So in this article we discuss about evolution of mobile batteries from 1980 to 2019(present).

Nickel-Cadmium Cell Phone Batteries
Nickel-Cadmium cell phone batteries aka NiCD. During 1980’s, this battery was the choice of cell phone manufactures. But the problem is it is bulky and heavyand it also have a problem called Memory effect. After few times of charge it cannot hold the charge. It is result battery replacement.
These batteries also had a tendency to get hot, which caused disturbances, plus one of the ingredients in the batteries was cadmium, which is toxic and a problem to dispose of after the battery dies.
Nickel-Metal Hydride Batteries
During 1990’s the next evolution of mobile batteries is born .Nickel-Metal Hydride Batteries aka NiMH, which is thin and small. It had very low memory effect. They are no toxic.
Also, they could be recharged in a shorter length of time and they let users talk l\onger before they died.
Lithium-Ion Batteries
Lithium ion batteries developed next. It’s still in use today. They are thinner , lighter and last longer. Even take less time to charge. It has no memory effect and can made different shapes. So, the manufactures can make different shape and size mobiles as they wish.
They can be recharged multiple times, and they are safe for the environment. They are, however, much more expensive than the older battery models.
Lithium-Poly Ion Batteries
The newest development in cell phone batteries is the lithium-poly icon, or Li-Poly battery, which has 40 percent more power than the old NiMh batteries. They are super light and have no memory effect issues to cause charging problems. However, these batteries are not commonly used as yet, and they are still fairly rare. All in all, the technologies for the cell phone and its battery have come a long way in a relatively short period of time.
